Applications for winter 2014!!

Prospective brigaders!!

 This is for those of you that have either signed up during an info session, sent us emails expressing interest in our program, or decided to postpone your brigade to winter 2014.

Application Process:

The applications are due on April 22nd, 5:30pm for Architecture and Microfinance and April 23rd, 5:30pm for Medical, Public Health, and Water. Applications will be read on April 23, interviews will be offered to take place on April 24-26, and you will be notified with final decisions by May 1.

We have attached a copy of the application, also available on our website gmb.berkeley.edu. We encourage you to explore Global Brigades main website, globalbrigades.org, before applying.

Reapplicants:

If you were already accepted last semester, please resubmit an application with the correct subject line, but you only have to fill out the general information section and question 3 of the general questions. You may copy/paste answers you used last semester for the first 2 questions (although we changed them slightly, don’t worry). Do not expect another interview, we will likely only contact you via phone/ email.

2011-2012 Trip Info-Session!

GWB is on a fresh start! Join us for the 2011-2012 Trip Info-sessions. We will hold two meetings – on Wednesday (Oct. 5th) and Thursday (Oct. 6th). Come and find out more about GWB’s initiatives and projects, application process and requirements for the 2011-2012 trip (tentatively planned for the week before spring semester begins). And make sure to bring your friends with you! We look forward to meeting all the future brigaders. Thanks for your constant interest and support!

Fundraising

Most fundraising for trips is done through letter writing. You can write letters to family, friends, or even local businesses. If you write enough you may be able to cover the cost of your trip even if you only receive small donations – they add up quicker than you think!

New Summer 2010 Brigaders!

Welcome to GWB! We can’t wait to meet you all so please come on time to the next general meeting on Tuesday, March 16. It will be held in 106 Dwinelle at 7:30 pm. We will be going over very important information about the trip, fundraising and committees. Please contact Andrew or Haejin if you will not be able to make it or can only make part of it. Please come even if you will be late.

Team leader position: If you applied to be a team leader, there will be interviews before the meeting on Tuesday so please come early.

Important reminder: Security deposits of $150 must be made soon in order to reserve a seat on the plane. Please read the instructions below on how to make deposits online. Thanks.

Instructions for making the security deposit on the fundraising website:
1. Register online at http://globalbrigades.org/
2. Click “Support Now” on the left menu
3. Scroll down and click the maroon link: “Support Global Brigades or Direct Donate”
4. Click Join Brigade and look for UC Berkeley MAY
*Note: this option won’t be available until after the weekend, so please check back on Monday
5. Make a security deposit (for airfare) of $150.00 by Thursday, March 18, *10pm*
6. Use this link to fundraise or directly pay the remainder of your fees!

Update for Summer ’10 Apps

Update: Notifications for acceptance to the summer 2010 brigade will be sent out Tuesday, March 9, around midnight. Thank you for taking the initiative and time to apply to GWB. Every year we are constantly amazed at the diversity of students who apply, and the passion and enthusiasm they bring to help another community. This year is no exception. We hope to see many of you be a part of GWB.
